Leviton’s D3206-2LW is a Multizone Controller and Dimmer system designed for those looking for an advanced, high-end residential device that can dim up to six zones all from one panel. The D3206-2LW can operate in two different ways: As a self-contained dimmer that can dim lights wired directly to the unit or as a control unit attached to the Leviton Control Network communication bus. Using “wizard” menus and pushbuttons to help guide you through settings and adjustments, the D3206-2LW will cater to multiple customizations and features an intelligent infrared receiver which can be used with a remote control. This controller can work with a vast D3200 dimming system or be used as a simple dimmer attached to six zones.
It only takes a few minutes to customize the D3206-2LW, allow it to cater to your specific zone and scene naming schemes. When selecting a specific zone the integrated LCD will display the name of the scene, and the current date and time. This same LCD display will also show the zone’s corresponding light level, making adjustment easy and allowing for simple repetitive settings to be inputted. Enabling a zone local to the D3206-2LW causes the LED status lights to activate displaying the number assigned to the specific zone as well as the selected zone’s brightness level. An auxiliary status indicator (“A”) will also light up when a zone is controlling an auxiliary device wired to the LCnet, but not directly to the D3206-2LW. There are up to eight scene buttons, with the selected and enabled scene button remaining lit. Once scenes have been programmed, any zone of your choice can be adjusted individually and separate from the enabled scene. Available push buttons provide a group dim, group brighten, maximum brightness, and an off switch.

If you already own or plan purchase Blueline Innovations PowerCost Monitor, the smartenit 5010T ZBPCM Interface is the perfect accessory to incorporate energy monitoring into your INSTEON, or Zigbee, home automation network. The ZBPCM wirelessly interfaces with the Blue Line Innovations PowerCost Monitor and offers a means of getting real time energy information from almost any electric meter into a home control network utilizing the ZigBee Home Automation (HA) or INSTEON protocol. This solution feeds instantaneous demand (Kw) and consumption (Kw hrs) for the whole home to several available and upcoming energy management and home control applications. Based on this information, customized parameters can be set to allow for automated responses that will save energy and costs.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimated that in 2010 there were 156,400 cooking related home fires and the leading contributor to these was unattended stovetops. This is something that can happen to anyone because you never know when a distraction will arise that pulls you away from the kitchen for longer than expected. It could be a phone call you weren’t expecting but need to take, someone at the door, a child requiring your undivided attention and the list goes on and on. Here to help protect you when these distractions occur is the CookStop 3 Prong Plug In Kit which acts as a fire prevention aid for an electric stove. Once installed, the control unit’s motion sensor will monitor the movement in the kitchen whenever the stove is turned on. As movement is detected it will reset the 5 minute count down timer and continue this process as long as someone is in the kitchen. If, however, the person cooking ends up being pulled out of the kitchen for longer than 5 minutes then the CookStop device will automatically shut-off power to the stove to prevent overheating and potential fire. The CookStop 3 Prong Kit is not only great for residential home use but also dorms, apartments, senior living homes and office buildings where distraction is easy.
The EMX BG-VK2 BlueGuard VK2 Bluetooth Virtual Keypad Wireless Access Control Module turns a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone into a universal controller – letting you switch almost anything ON/OFF from your iPhone, Android, BlackBerry or other Bluetooth enabled device. BlueGuard is activated when a PIN code is keyed into the cell phone within range, triggering the relay output. The possibilities are endless with BlueGuard, and the user capacity unlimited. Use BlueGuard as a virtual keypad to open and close garage doors, activate magnetic locks and gate openers, as a free exit device, or as a key switch on your car or boat – the applications are limitless.
The BG-VK2 BlueGuard feature an adjustable activation pulse period, from 3 to 90 seconds, which allows direct connection to a magnetic door lock. It also has an output toggle feature; connect to BlueGuard and activate output, connect again to deactivate the output. A built-in remote LED status indicator let’s you when BlueGuard is active. BlueGuard VK2 does not require any software to be downloaded to your phone, it uses existing Bluetooth communication.
For operation, simply search for Bluetooth devices on your cell phone, select BlueGuard, and enter the PIN. The relay output will activate when the correct PIN is entered. This allows an unlimited number of users to activate BlueGuard (with the same PIN). No grooming is required. BlueGuard’s user interface features a secure internal switch to place the unit in the programming mode. During programming, BlueGuard reads the Bluetooth device that is within range and allows editing of the PIN and the BlueGuard’s Bluetooth name. Read more
ThePlugwise Home Start Zigbee Wireless Energy Monitoring Kit, 2-Zone is a ZigBee communicating system that is designed to help users see the energy consumption of connected appliances and then cut down on wasted energy. The kit comes with 2 smart plugs, also referred to as “Circle’s”, which connect to a wall outlet and then simply connect the appliance for tracking by plugging it into the Circle. Data will then transmit over a ZigBee wireless network to a connected computer and provide usage information while also allowing for the creating of “switching schemes”. The switching schemes are periods of time in which a connected appliance is to be turned off as a result of noticing large amounts of energy usage during specific periods when the appliance is not actually being used. Once recognized, an event can be created that will automatically turn off power to the appliance for the decided upon amount of time and then turn it back on afterwards. It is important to note that a switching scheme can only control an appliance that is connected to a circle.
Creating switching schemes is a function that must be done via a computer that has the Plugwise installed software. The software is a free download using the license code that is included with the purchase of the Energy Monitoring Kit. System requirements for installing the source software are a computer with Windows XP/Vista/7, 30 MB of free disk space, 1 GB memory, 1 GHz processor, 64 MB graphics card and a valid internet connection. Upon downloading the software connect the USB flash drive (included) to your computer USB port to complete installation and launch the Plugwise network.
Looking to expand your Plugwise network to do more than just monitor appliance energy consumption? With the Scan Zigbee Wireless Light and Motion Detector you can do just that. The sensor will aid in energy conservation by recognizing when someone is in a room and then automatically turning the lights on and then off once the room is empty. Another benefit to the Light and Motion Detector is that it can provide insight into home or building occupancy. Because it detects people the Scan will provide data showing how often people are in a given room and send this information to the Plugwise network. This will then offer the owner an overview of which rooms are used more than others as well as how often. The Scan will communicate with the nearest Circle in Plugwise ZigBee network. While the Light and Motion Detector is great for use with room lighting it can also be used with other appliances that do not need to be on when no one is around such as a printer or computer. This product is powered by 1 AA battery which is included with purchase. It is important to note that this product requires an existing Plugwise network to be setup in order for use.
