Pillow Talk: How well do you know your pillow?

February 19, 2011 Leave a comment

How much do you know about that thing that sleeps with you every night? How often should you change pillows? Is every pillow made the same? Does it really effect how you sleep at night?

1. Allergies. Those that wake up with allergies may blame it on the carpet or a dusty room. In fact it may be the pillow that you are sleeping with every night. Skin and hair can turn into dust and pollen and make it a very attractive breeding ground for dust mites and other unsightly creatures that could irritate you. Covering your pillow with multiple pillow cases may help as well as changing a pillow regularly.

2. Body ache. Pillows that loose their firmness over time are not ideal for a good nights sleep. Pillows that have little or no more “fluff” in the, provide little support for your head. If you wake up in the middle of the night and try to rearrange your pillow in a way that would put you back to sleep, then take that as a hint that your pillow has seen the end of its journey.

3. Pillow choice. Invest a bit more money in a pillow and see a bigger difference in a longer lasting product.  Tired of your boring old white cased pillow? Who says they have to be? Check out some cool designs that we found online.

NBC: Facebook and Twitter Come To Amazon’s Kindle

Free update will let you share book clips via social networks

Amazon’s Kindle reading device is getting a bit more social. Amazon is sending out a software update that will add a few new neat features.

Soon, you’ll be able to update your Twitter and Facebook statuses right from the device. You’ll also be able to highlight a passage from the book or text you’re reading and share it with your social network. That killer quote from your favorite author? A few clicks and your friends can enjoy it too.

Another feature called “Popular Highlights” will reveal what Kindle readers feel are the most interesting passages in the books you’re reading. Watch out for spoilers.

One hotly anticipated feature will finally make its way to the device: folders. You’ll be able to organize your books and documents. Currently, everything you store on your Kindle is in one long laundry list, and you have to scroll through it to find what you want to read. The new “Collections” feature will let you store items in groups you create.
