If you are looking for a way monitor or limit access to and from your home or office, the HAI Commercial Security Control Promo Kit has everything you need to get started. An electronic reader can be mounted to a door frame or to any flat wall surface and used to trigger an output for the included electronic door strike. Ten wireless access cards and ten wireless key tags have been included and can be programmed to activate the electronic reader. These access cards and key tags can also be tied in to any home automation functions, via the Omni Pro II controller, to disarm the alarm, light a pathway into the house, change the temperature, turn on several zones of a whole home audio system and select their volume and source. Each card or key tag is tied to a specific user, and thus, all of the actions can also be customized for each individual user. This kit also includes a hardwired high wattage relay control module ideal for commercial automation of lighting ballasts, vent fan control, a circulator pump, sign lighting and outdoor lighting. The relay control module can prevent expensive energy use by locking out the use of high wattage appliances and lights when electricity costs are at their highest. A standard keypad console and 5.7″ touch screen console are included to program and operate your system. As an added bonus, PC Access software has been included to make setting up, programming and monitoring at breeze.

Irvine, CA – December 6, 2008 — When Home Designs BY Bruno and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” reached out for help for their latest home makeover project for the Girard family in Voluntown, CT, Smarthome jumped at the opportunity. The Southern California-based home automation superstore provided the home builders with switches, outlets and remotes featuring its award winning INSTEON technology, which will allow the Girard family remote control access to lights, thermostats and other appliances throughout their home.
“When we learned of the immeasurable losses the Girard family had endured, we welcomed the chance to participate in this project,” explained Laurie Maroni, Vice President of Marketing for Smarthome. “This family has been through so much that our help wasn’t just a good thing to do, it was the right thing to do.”
Pinnacles of their community, the Girard family has always participated in a variety of volunteer efforts and charitable missions. The true heroism and courage of Thomas and Marc Girard will live forever in the memories of the many peoples’ lives they touched. Both members of the Friars and the Knights of La Ponte, father and son embodied the spirit of generosity and dedication in all aspects of their lives. Marc was studying to become a priest and Thomas, a computer technician by trade, donated his time to fundraising to help the elderly and the poor and to repairing computers and the children’s elementary school. A year ago, they lost their home in a fire and the Girards moved from a tent, to a tiny camper, to Carol’s mother’s house, which is almost 40 miles away from where the children go to school. The children sleep scattered throughout the house-in the living room or in the cellar-due to lack of space. Then one afternoon in June, Thomas took three of his children to a nearby lake for an afternoon swim. Thomas began having trouble breathing and Marc rushed into the lake, brought Hannah to safety and then went back into the water to help his father. Tragically, neither Marc nor his father made it back and Marc died trying to save his father’s life.

The Motion Sensor Floodlight is a fantastic way to add simple, automated lighting to your home. It was primarily designed to act as an outdoor floodlight, replacing an existing light by your font porch, back patio, garage door, driveway and other possible entryways/exits. Using a built in motion sensor, two lights (bulbs sold separately) will be activated when movement has been detected within the 60 foot range, 110° coverage angle. The sensitivity of motion sensor can be adjusted to fine tune the area you are trying to cover. The “ON-TIME” is adjustable between one, five, or 10 minutes. By limiting the ON-TIME, you will provide lighting only when needed, which cuts down on energy consumption. A photocell also limits the use of this product to darkness, so it won’t go off during the day and waste electricity. These two factors make this product ENERGY STAR compliant. Since this product is hardwired, replacing an existing light, it can also be manually turned on or off. This Motion Sensor Floodlight can also be used as a way to notify you that someone is approaching your home and as a way to offer minimal security against intruders. This simple lighting solution is a great way to add safety, convenience and piece of mind to your home.
